A local guide to the best cocktail bars in Prague, from elegant classics like Hemingway Bar to creative hidden gems and laid-back rooftop spots.

My Favorite Prague Cocktail Bars

Prague is known for beer — but its lesser known cocktail scene is one of the best I’ve experienced in Europe.

I discovered this firsthand while living in the city for a year. Prague is full of curated cocktail bars where the menus are unique, the ingredients inspired, and the resulting drinks are truly a thoughtful creation.

If you’re planning your trip or move to Prague I’ve developed this guide to my favorite cocktail bars in Prague. Every bar in this guide is somewhere I’ve personally visited, often more than once. These are the places I kept returning to, and the ones I still recommend whenever someone asks where to get a great drink in Prague.

One thing to know before diving in: this guide is cocktail-focused (with a vino bonus). If you’re looking for a party itinerary or nightlife crawl, stay tuned — that guide is in the works. But if you’re looking for a tastefully made beverage to sit back with after a long day of exploring Prague — you’re in the right place.

Short on Time?

Short on time? Here’s a quick guide to help you choose the right bar for your night.

Best Overall Cocktail Bar: Hemingway Bar – If you only visit one cocktail bar in Prague, make it this one. Exceptional drinks, beautiful presentation, and a vibe that feels straight out of a Gatsby party.

Best Hidden Gem: MEZ at Andaz – Creative cocktails organized by “mood” instead of ingredients. It’s stylish, inventive, and often much quieter than Prague’s more famous cocktail bars.

Best for Groups: Manifesto Market – A cocktail and food hub with multiple restaurants and bars. Perfect if everyone in your group wants something different.

Best Rooftop Drinks: Střecha Radost – A laid-back rooftop bar in Prague 3 with sunset views and a more local vibe.

Best Wine Bar (Bonus Stop): Cin Cin Wine Bar – A tiny, intimate wine bar in New Town where the owner helps you find the perfect glass.

Hemingway Bar

Location: New Town, Prague 1

If you only go to one cocktail bar in Prague, make it Hemingway Bar.

This is one of the city’s most famous cocktail spots, and unlike many hyped places, it lives up to the reputation. The atmosphere feels elegant but relaxed — dim lighting, attentive service, and a cozy refined space. Think “Great Gatsby evening.”

The staff here are one of the biggest reasons the bar stands out. The bartenders and servers are incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the drinks they’re serving. If you’re unsure what to order, tell them what flavors you like and they’ll guide you toward something great.

A couple things to know before visiting: reservations are strongly recommended, and there is a dress code. It’s not overly formal, but casual items like sweatpants can get you turned away — I actually saw it happen when I visited.

The cocktail menu changes seasonally, so there’s always something new to try.

What to Order

The menu rotates frequently, but besides their creative specialty cocktails they also make excellent classics.

Their espresso martini was my favorite in Prague — perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. That said, I strongly recommend exploring the seasonal signature cocktails first. The drinks here are incredibly creative, and the presentation is unlike anything you’ve seen before (think cocktails being served in ceramic oyster shells).

If something on the menu catches your eye but you’re unsure, ask the staff. Their recommendations are spot on and part of what makes the experience feel special.

Why It’s Worth It

Hemingway Bar is one of the more expensive cocktail bars in this guide, with drinks typically 300–400 CZK ($13–18 USD). But if you’re going to splurge on one cocktail experience in Prague, this is the place to do it.

The drinks are exceptional, the presentation is stunning, and the atmosphere feels like stepping into a glamorous cocktail party from another era. It’s the kind of place where every drink feels like an event.

MEZ at Andaz

Location: New Town, Prague 1

MEZ at Andaz is actually a hotel bar — but it doesn’t feel like one.

In fact, this ended up being one of the most interesting cocktail bars I visited in Prague. I probably wouldn’t have discovered it if my dad hadn’t stayed at the Andaz during his visit, but once I did, it quickly became one of my favorite under-the-radar spots in the city.

The space is stylish and modern but still cozy, with attentive bartenders and a relaxed feel that makes it easy to settle in for a drink.

What to Order

The signature cocktails here are particularly fun — instead of traditional names, the drinks are organized around feelings and moods like Creative, Energetic, and Playful.

It’s a clever concept that makes the menu feel interactive. Cocktails typically cost 280–320 CZK ($12–14 USD), which puts them on the higher end for Prague, but the creativity and quality make them well worth it.

Why It’s Worth It

MEZ feels like a hidden gem compared to some of Prague’s more famous cocktail bars.

You get the same level of craftsmanship, but without the crowds you might encounter at places like Hemingway Bar. It’s an especially great stop for a pre-dinner cocktail or a nightcap if you’re staying nearby — or if you just want a unique drink in a quieter setting.

Manifesto Market

Location: Anděl, Prague 5

Manifesto isn’t a single cocktail bar so much as a cocktail-and-food hub, which is what makes it such a good option.

If you’re traveling with a group and can’t agree on what to get, this is the place to go. One person wants cocktails, someone else wants dinner, someone else wants a more energetic feel — Manifesto covers all of it. It’s lively, social, and much more flexible than committing to one traditional bar.

There’s often music and a buzzy atmosphere, so it strikes a nice balance between refined cocktail spot and going-out spot.

What to Order

For the best cocktails here, go to SOOT Bar, Manifesto’s open-air cocktail bar, where the menu rotates seasonally.

Cocktails are usually around 240–260 CZK, which is about $10.50–$11.50 USD at a rough current conversion.

Why It’s Worth It

Manifesto is worth it because it gives you options without feeling generic.

You can come here when your group can’t decide, or when you want a good cocktail without the formality of a classic cocktail bar. It’s especially good for a casual night out where you want drinks, food, and multiple options all in one place.

Střecha Radost

Location: Žižkov, Prague 3

Střecha Radost is a rooftop cocktail bar in Prague 3 with one of the best views in the city.

This spot was right next to my university, so I ended up here often after afternoon classes — catching up with friends and watching the sunset over the city. Because it’s outside the main tourist areas, the vibe feels much more local compared to many of Prague’s more famous cocktail bars.

The rooftop setting makes it an especially nice place to spend a slow afternoon or early evening drink, particularly in the warmer months.

What to Order

The drinks here are less expensive than many of the other bars in this guide, and the focus is more on well-made classics rather than elaborate or experimental cocktails.

My go-to order here was the Skinny Bitch (basically a skinny margarita). It’s simple, refreshing, and ideal for sipping on the rooftop while the sun goes down.

Why It’s Worth It

Střecha Radost is worth visiting if you want a more relaxed, local-feeling cocktail spot away from the busiest tourist areas.

It’s not the place for theatrical cocktail presentations or hyper-creative drinks — but the rooftop view and lower prices make it an easy place to spend a few hours, especially if you’re looking for a quieter alternative to Prague’s more famous cocktail bars.

Cin Cin Wine Bar

Friends clinking wine glasses

Location: New Town, Prague 1

Cin Cin isn’t technically a cocktail bar — but it’s worth including as a bonus stop.

This tiny wine bar is tucked away in New Town and feels incredibly intimate. Instead of scanning a long menu, the experience here revolves around conversation. The owner is extremely knowledgeable about the wines and will happily guide you toward something you’ll love based on your preferences.

The space itself is small and cozy, which adds to the charm. It’s the kind of spot that feels like a hidden discovery.

What to Order

Rather than choosing from a traditional menu, the best move here is simply to talk to the owner and ask for a recommendation. Describe what you usually enjoy — whether that’s something light and crisp or bold and full-bodied — and they’ll help you find the perfect glass.

Why It’s Worth It

Cin Cin is worth visiting when you want a break from cocktails but still want a thoughtful, curated drinking experience.

The personalized recommendations make it feel completely different from the bigger cocktail bars on this list. It’s an ideal stop for a relaxed evening drink or a quieter end to a night out.

Final Thoughts

From iconic spots like Hemingway Bar, to creative hidden gems like MEZ at Andaz, to relaxed local favorites like Střecha Radost, the city offers an impressive range of places to grab a truly excellent drink. What stands out most is the level of creativity and care that goes into the cocktails — thoughtful menus, inventive ingredients, and bartenders who genuinely love what they do.

Whether you’re looking for an elegant night out, a laid-back rooftop drink, or a lively spot to start the evening with friends, Prague has a cocktail bar that fits the mood.

And if you’re planning a full evening out, don’t forget that places like Manifesto Market combine great drinks with some of the city’s best international food options.
